happy new year, dear readers!
I can’t believe I have been writing this horoscope column, email newsletter for two years now.
As I enter the third year of writing, I wonder what else can I stretch heart garden to be?
I want 2024 to be a year of encounter and connection.
I started this as a monthly writing practice, and its evolved into a way to keep in touch with my clients-friends-collaborators. I don’t write this to make any money, … but I do have one request. If you have enjoyed heart garden, would you share it with someone you think will connect with my writing?
I’m grateful to share a world together, hoping we see each other more in 2024 ~
2024 energies:
an explosion of pleasure, agrarian revolution, avalanche, pop rocks
multitasking hell, two-timing, encyclopedic ecstasy, overthinking
seeing the results of delusional behavior, sobering up, waterproofing, getting reprimanded by your dream, deboning a poem
collective/group/ideological beginnings, new generational divides, critique over content, technological existential dread
horoscopes (read for your rising sign and/or sun sign)
Capricorn:
in this next year, envision yourself home after a long journey. What is the first thing you would do? What would you do after a week, after the laundry is done and the room cleaned? This next year, there is a part of you that will settle a bit more, and this transition might even feel more uncomfortable than the agitation you have gotten used to. You’ve found a sense of familiarity in the rockiness of the last decade of your life, but now as Pluto moves out of your first house and into your second house, you are experiencing a new dimension of the human experience… it will take time, more than just the next few years to fully process this, but 2024 pulls you into this chapter.
Aquarius:
If you’ve been praying for change and transformation, it will be here shortly. If you haven’t been owning your power, and here I define it as the recognition of your desire and what you can do to get it, you are about to enter a stage where you will have to face the possibility of your life. It will not be easy because as Pluto moves into your first house, it doesn’t care what promises you made out of social obligation or what you think is possible or right. You have to face your heart and jump in eventually.
Pisces:
2024 continues a theme of 2023, which is a less ornate, un-frilly rebuilding process. To get where you want to be, you have to put in the work and strip off what’s unnecessary. This process can’t be rushed through, so, for a while, you are just under construction and there’s not much to show. That’s ok. You’ll look back at this time as an incredible foundation to future projects, so it’s okay if you feel internally that things are slow as long as you remind yourself that this is the season you are in. In 2024, I also think you could be pulled back home for a season.
Aries:
I highly recommend you try out solo traveling this year. Especially when some relationships might reach their end, (can be business, friendship, romantic, etc), you can find the strength within to really remind yourself who you are. The contours of your existence are incredible, look how much you’ve been through, look what you can do. If not travel, then I prescribe long bike rides, solitary walks, sitting on the train for no particular reason if not just to see the sun hit the bridge. December of the next year might be a bit more tough in the area of creativity, romance, children, as well as home and family.
Taurus:
Two big months for you this year are April and May. The standard interpretation of this time is “Extreme Makeover.” I wouldn’t recommend plastic surgery during this time, but I think instead the time could bring in some money or a benefactor, if you keep your mind open to that. But more than what happens to you, I hope you happen to the world. Your energy first half of next year is dynamic, even, earth-shattering. Can’t wait to see your art, hear your music, party together.
Gemini:
Next year, starting late May, you are entering into the bountiful period of your life. You will heartily take on leadership positions and be the kingpin of generosity in your community. You might be astounded at how much the fun of the night is dependent on your presence, and you’ll be happy to entertain. As your innate self is celebrated, your flaws and excesses might also be highlighted. I highly recommend you consider how much you might commit yourself to when you are on a winning streak, or just how much you say or blab out when you’re feeling funny. A little bit of self-restraint will help balance out the measure of censure the outer world administers.
Cancer:
Most of the year, you may be experiencing a blossoming of independence and leadership in the area of work, emerging boldly onto public arenas and visibility, while reconsidering the ways you seek to please in the areas of home and family. However end of year, in September and October, as Mars travels through your first house of self, new conceptions of self will emerge, possibly arenas for you to fight for your own self-determination. This will define some of the themes that will preoccupy you into 2025.
Leo:
One of the main defining themes of the year doesn’t happen until late in November and December, when you will be going through a big moment of re-definition of yourself. This redefinition may include some restocking of self-confidence and self-love, and may require some time away in solitude to heal your wounds. As you lead up to this moment, you will have your fair share of career breakthroughs, exciting travel opportunities, and new friend groups and collective associations to engage with this year.
Virgo:
One exciting theme for you this year is possible travel, additional further study, and breakthroughs in your own philosophical formation. This takes place earlier in the year, and as Jupiter enters Gemini, you’ll be able to take these influences to influence larger career opportunities, which will most likely require a lot of writing, speaking, or connecting of related bodies. Another ongoing theme is the solidification and restructuring of your relationship sector. Whether cementing a foundation or cutting away stray threads, the relationships in your life this year may occasionally ask you where you are willing to put focus, and what you do when you realize you can only be one place at one time.
Libra:
The big theme this year is release, especially a release from the self to make some room for the possibility of others. It’s an interesting dilemma because for you to consider the possibility of others, it does actually require you to recenter back into yourself and your desire for relationships. This year you cannot just take what others give you but try to create the reality you want and see who joins you. By considering your relationships through the lens of yourself, you may even discover more parts of you that you didn’t know.
Scorpio:
In spring time, around April and May, you may encounter some very eccentric and inspiring relationships, people who might really cause you to let go of some of your assumptions of others. If you are in an established relationship, there may be some realignments and injections of fresh new energy. End of the year, in November and December brings some shifts in career or your position as an authority. It would be wise to assert slowly and reveal your hand gently, if at all.
Sagittarius:
This year, you have some exciting possibilities. While the earlier half of the year brings new innovations in your work and daily life routines, the latter half of the year brings exciting possibilities for partnership and collaboration. While these are definitely exciting, it seems like there will be some tension because you can’t quite devote the time to everyone, everywhere you want to. With Saturn in Pisces in your fourth house, it seems like it may be more of a limitation around geographies of home or having some heavy duties that hinder your ability to fully connect or be present.
